Texans opened the preseason last night and beat the Vikings, 27-13. Time for the first installment of the Texans Stock Report.
Stock Up:
Earl Mitchell – was better than Cody last year, this year it’s very clear. Some beastly plays early w/ a sack and TFL.
Case Keenum – should see reps w/ & vs 2nd teamers in next game vs Miami. Was 13-18, 125 yds, but had several drops preventing those numbers from being even better. His TD toss to Jean was slightly off, but clearly got the job done.
Cierre Wood – like Keenum, he should see work vs against better competition next week. His style seems to fit the offense well & he ran north/south gaining all the yards that were there to get.
AJ Bouye – a rare CB with size, he’s clearly a player worth a longer look. Much more good than bad.
Willie Jefferson – nice motor. Clearly raw, best play was when he was unblocked, nearly forced an INT
Stock Down
Roc Carmichael – pretty much a dumpster fire. Poor coverage & technique. Poor tackling, esp. late on the long 61-yd TD.
Eddie Pleasant – had an INT on a tipped ball, but a lot of concerns otherwise, including his personal foul on special teams hitting the return man before the punt arrived.
Ben Jones – not pushing anyone for playing time, really struggles with bigger DL when at guard. Much better center.
